SPOORTHY
(Organization for Education and Social Development)

History

Spoorthy began its journey in 1998 with a grassroots movement in N. Ganadakatte, Davanagere, fighting for common land rights. The successful struggle against land handover to a private paper mill laid the foundation for Spoorthy’s birth in 2000. Since then, it has evolved into one of Karnataka’s most respected NGOs.

Our aim is to create a just, equitable, and sustainable society where all individuals, especially the marginalized, have the power to lead dignified and self-reliant lives. We work through rights-based advocacy, grassroots empowerment, and institutional support to ensure access to opportunities,
Our Mission & Vision
Mission

Spoorthy empowers women and children through rights-based education, protection and leadership. We promote livelihood and employability through skill development and income-generation. Our work ensures inclusion of the specially-abled, strengthens community institutions like SHGs, and advocates for policy implementation and social justice. We also focus on environmental sustainability and ensure access to basic rights like food, land, education, health and employment for all.
Vision
To build a just, inclusive, and sustainable society where every individual—regardless of caste, gender, ability, or economic status—can live with dignity, access equal opportunities, and fully participate in the development process.
